Hi, I’m Justin!

I am a licensed therapist in Colorado embracing an integrative therapy style. This is a highly adaptive and trauma-informed approach that merges insights from evidence-based treatments such as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and Attachment Theory. Our time in session together will ultimately focus on strengthening connections between your mind, brain, and body through a therapeutic process tailored for you.

The name ‘Paper Crown’ reflects the balance between the roles and expectations we carry in life and the real, often messy, human experience underneath. It’s about acknowledging the pressure to ‘perform’ while also celebrating the courage it takes to step back, embrace the unknown, and find peace and clarity within ourselves. Therapy, for me, is helping people lift that crown just enough to see who they really are beneath it.

  • The foundation of our work together will be based on:

    • Learning about the nature of your mind, brain, and body

    • Practicing mindfulness

    • Somatic experiencing

    • Creating a coherent narrative of your lived experience

  • Our sessions will awaken and deepen the connection between your mind, brain, and body, allowing you to directly experience how these interconnected systems shape your emotional life, thoughts, and relationships.

Together, we’ll explore the body’s essential role in mental and emotional well-being, learning to recognize and listen to the sensations, emotions, and physical states that profoundly influence your thoughts, choices, and behaviors.

  • At Paper Crown Therapy, Lulu, my canine companion and co-therapist offers a unique and supportive therapeutic space. Her gentle-nature in session offers warmth, playfulness, and invites presence encouraging openness and growth. Read more here.

  • Modern relational science points to neuroplasticity as the biological process of the brains ability to adapt and change neural pathways under the right conditions. By engaging in therapeutic practices that promote brain flexibility, you will be empowered to overcome challenges, build resilience, and create lasting neurobiological changes that influence your emotional and mental well-being.
